Horseheads, NY — July 9, 2025 — The Corning-Painted Post Little League (CPPLL) 8–10 All-Stars are the 2025 New York State District 6 Champions after a dominant tournament run capped by an unforgettable championship game under the lights at Horseheads’ home field.
A Perfect Pool Play Run
CPPLL entered the elimination rounds with unmatched momentum, finishing pool play undefeated in six games. Along the way, they outscored their opponents by a staggering 89–9 margin, showcasing powerful bats and lockdown pitching.
Semifinal Statement
On July 7, CPPLL faced Elmira/LPC in the semifinal round. The bats exploded early and often, and the pitching staff delivered as CPPLL rolled to a decisive 21–3 victory, punching their ticket to the championship game.
A Championship Thriller
The title game proved to be the ultimate test. In a tense pitcher’s duel with only six combined hits between the two clubs, CPPLL edged out Horseheads 4–2 under the lights in front of a packed crowd.
Jacob Dunning set the tone on the mound, throwing 2 2/3 innings, surrendering just 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 6 without issuing a walk. With the game hanging in the balance, Micah Bretch entered in relief and slammed the door, tossing 3 1/3 innings of scoreless, hitless baseball. Bretch struck out 4 and allowed no hits, securing the championship with a lights-out performance.
A Historic Finish
From a near-flawless pool play showing to a nerve-wracking final, the CPPLL 8–10 All-Stars proved they could win in every way possible. Their combination of dominant offense, strong defense, and clutch pitching has earned them the title of District 6 Champions and a place in league history.
